What is Spark?

Spark Mind Play is a cognitive engagement app designed for people living with dementia and their caregivers. It provides gentle, adaptive games with optional sensory stimulation features. Spark is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.

What data does Spark collect?

Spark stores the following information, all entered or generated by you:

Person profiles — Names and preferences you create for each person using the app
Session activity — Game events during play sessions, including which games were played, how long sessions lasted, and engagement indicators
App settings — Your preferences such as onboarding completion and sensory settings

Spark does not collect:

Email addresses, phone numbers, or account credentials
Location data
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Health or medical records
Photos, audio, or video (unless you upload custom content, stored locally only)

Where is data stored?

All data is stored locally on your device only. Spark has no servers, no cloud storage, no user accounts, and no online connectivity requirement. The developer (dementia-tools.com) cannot access, view, retrieve, or transmit any data you enter into the app.

Important: Session data is not clinical data

Session history (games played, duration, engagement indicators) is provided for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute a cognitive assessment, medical record, or diagnostic tool. You must not use session data to make medical decisions, adjust medications, or assess cognitive decline. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for all clinical decisions.

Anonymous analytics (optional)

If you enable anonymous analytics in Settings, Spark sends de-identified usage data (game played, session duration, no names or personal info) to help us improve the app. This can be turned off at any time. No data is sent without your explicit consent.

Who can see the data?

Only people with physical access to the device where Spark is installed. There is no login, no sharing feature, and no remote access.

How do I delete data?

Delete a person's profile: Open the app, tap Edit on the person's card, and delete the profile. All session history for that person is removed.
Delete all data: Uninstall the app. All locally stored data is permanently removed.

Children and vulnerable adults

Spark is designed for use by caregivers on behalf of adults living with dementia. It is not designed for or directed at children under 13. All design decisions prioritise dignity, comfort, and safety. No data about cognitive performance is transmitted or shared.

Premium subscription

If you subscribe to Spark Premium, the subscription is processed entirely through the app store. dementia-tools.com does not collect or store any payment information.

Changes to this policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version at this URL with an updated date.
